How To Enhance Your Magick With Spell Oils
Here are the main ways I most often use spell oils
I often get asked about spell oils, so I’m sharing a few favorite methods. Spell oils are specialized mixtures designed to enhance and focus energy for specific intentions in magickal practices. These blends typically combine essential oils, chosen for their unique properties and correspondences, with carrier oils like jojoba or almond oil to ensure safe topical application. For instance, lavender oil might be included for its calming and protective qualities, while rosemary oil is used for cleansing and purification. Additional elements, such as herbs or crystals, are often added to further align the blend with the desired outcome, whether it be protection, love, healing, or prosperity. These oils are indispensable in any practice, adding potency to spells, rituals, and everyday magick. I use oils constantly in my magick. What's great is they are versatile, perfect for energy work, and household protection. Even a small amount can give your magick that boosted oomph you need. Here are some super quick ways to incorporate these powerful oils into your magickal routines.
Rub on Your Hands Before Magickal Energy Work
Strengthening your connection to the energies involved can be achieved by applying spell oil to your hands before energy work. This method aligns your personal energy with your goals, enhancing focus and effectiveness. I’ve noticed significant benefits during intense energy manipulation. Put a few drops of oil on your palms and then rub your hands together, focusing on your intention and visualizing the oil’s energy blending with yours. When your hands feel warm and the oil is evenly spread, begin your energy work.
Infuse Your Aura
To infuse your energy field with the properties of spell oil, brush your aura with oil-anointed hands. This practice can offer protection, attract specific energies, cleanse negativity, or whatever other intention the spell oil has infused in it. It's especially helpful for clearing away residual negative energy after a long day. Just apply a small amount of oil to your hands and rub them together. Then, gently sweep your hands through your aura from head to toe, imagining the oil’s energy enveloping you and creating a protective or empowering shield.
Anoint Spell Candles
Anointing candles with spell oils is a powerful way to charge them with intent. Each oil corresponds to different energies like love, protection, prosperity, or healing. When I need extra potency in my spellwork, this is my go-to method. Choose a candle that matches your intention. Apply a few drops of oil to your fingertips and rub it onto the candle. The way I was taught was if you're looking to send an intention out and away from you, you start at the center and move upwards towards the wick, then from the center down to the base. Then do the reverse if your spell is drawing or attracting something to you, starting from the ends towards the center. However, I know different traditions teach the opposite. So experiment and see which method works the best for you.
Apply to Petition Papers for Spell Work
When you write your intentions on petition papers, spell oils can help consecrate and empower your requests. They focus and direct your intent, adding extra oomph to your spell. Seriously, it’s like giving your spell a little kick. The way I was taught was to write your intention on a piece of paper. Dab a little oil on each corner and one in the center. Visualize your intention soaking into the paper, turning it into a potent tool for your spell. Fold the paper towards you to attract things, or away from you to banish.
Anoint Amulets and Talismans for Added Power
Amulets and talismans are charged with specific energies and purposes. Anointing them with spell oils can recharge and enhance their power, keeping them effective. This is especially handy for those pieces you wear daily. Place a drop of oil on your amulet or talisman and rub it over the surface. Focus on the oil’s properties infusing into the item, making it glow with renewed energy. 6. Anoint Magickal Tools Before a Working: Purifying and consecrating your magickal tools with oils ensures they are aligned with your intentions. Apply a drop of oil to a cloth and wipe down each tool from handle to tip. Focus on cleansing and charging the tool with your intention for whatever magickal working you might be doing.
Anoint Objects in Your House Like Doorways, Windows, Bedposts, etc.
Anointing objects and entry points in your home can create protective barriers, attract positive energies, or infuse the space with specific intentions. I do this regularly to keep the vibes high and the bad stuff out. To protect or bless your home, apply spell oil to doorways, windows, or bedposts. Use a small amount of oil on your fingertip and trace a pentagram at the corners. For bedposts, anoint each post while visualizing the energy you want to bring into that space.
Use in Spell Jars
Witches love jars (and that’s an understatement) and as such spell jars are a go-to for many. Using spell oils really boosts the energy inside, making the spell much stronger. Whenever I make a spell jar I always add a few drops of spell oil to my blend of herbs and crystals, or whatever else I have on hand. The oil helps everything work together and makes the whole mix more powerful.
