As I’ve been writing about a lot lately, the power of spoken words cannot be overstated. Whether through prayer, mantra, spell, or affirmation, the voice shapes reality in ways both subtle and undeniable. One of my favorite invocations to speak aloud for the future of the collective is the Great Invocation, a prayer that originated in Theosophy but has since transcended its origins. Simple yet potent, it calls for light, love, and will to transform human consciousness.
First introduced by Alice Bailey in 1945, the Great Invocation was allegedly dictated by the Tibetan master Djwhal Khul as a universal prayer to uplift humanity. It was meant to invoke divine energies to guide the world toward enlightenment. Despite its origins, the framework is beautiful, powerful, and clear. It is a structured call for wisdom, love, and will to manifest in the world. However, like many prayers rooted in a particular spiritual tradition, its language reflects the worldview of its time. While its core purpose resonates, I find myself over time continuously adapting it, stripping away Theosophical terminology and replacing it with words that feel more immediate, relevant, and powerful. It also reworks it so that it’s not waiting for a singular savior or master, but recognizing that we are our own saviors. I’ve posted several versions of this in the past, with this one being the latest that I’ve been using.
This expanded version retains the invocation’s essence but speaks more directly to justice, liberation, and the breaking of oppressive systems. Instead of an abstract appeal for goodwill, it calls for wisdom to replace ignorance, for peace-makers to rise, and for true will to shape human destiny. True will is the will that leads to freedom.
More than anything, this is something simple that anyone can participate in, regardless of spiritual, magickal, or religious background. It does not require formal training, initiation, or belief in any particular system. It only requires a willingness to speak the words aloud and to hold the vision of a better world. By doing so, we each contribute to shifting the tide of the future in the right direction.
Reciting this invocation in the morning and before sleep is a practice of alignment. It affirms a world where love is active, wisdom is guiding, and justice is inevitable. It is a simple way to use our words and thoughts to begin shifting the future in the direction we desire. Spoken aloud, it does more than shape internal intention. It sends energy outward, rippling into the fabric of reality. Though this isn’t an end-all-be-all or a sole replacement from action, it can help supplement action as well as all spellwork and energy work aimed in this general direction. It’s also helpful for those who want to help energetically with everything going on right now but aren’t sure what they can do or where to start.
I invite you to join me in this regular practice. Let these words be a beacon. Speak them, feel them, and let their power move through you.
The Great Invocation (by Mat Auryn adapted from Alice Bailey)
From the radiant core within the Divine Mind,
Let Light flow into human thoughts.
Let this Wisdom illuminate Earth,
Ending the reign of ignorance and fear.
From the source of Love within the Divine Heart,
Let unconditional Love pour into human hearts.
May the peace-makers grace Earth once more,
And may justice rise where cruelty has stood.
From the essence where Divine Will is revealed,
Let True Will shape human aspirations.
The True Will known and cherished by the Wise.
May it shatter the chains of suffering,
And guide all beings to freedom.
From the collective spirit of humanity,
Let the Design of Love, Will, and Wisdom manifest.
May it usher in an age of Peace and Harmony,
Where truth is honored, and none are oppressed.
May Divine Love, Will, and Wisdom
Restore the Grand Design on Earth.
So Mote It Be.
